Last game against United RFC:

It was beautiful weather and a perfect pitch but unfortunately the Scribes lost out again against opposition that were very even. The first div team lost in the very last play of the game, it was a heart-breaker.

1st Div: Scribes 14 – United 15

Next up is Brit Lions. 1pm and 2.30pm start times **Rupert Park.

There has been a change in field for the game against United tomorrow. The field is now Coquitlam Town Centre, South Field. This is the same area where the Highland games have been held. We will meet at our clubhouse, Commercial Dr & 14^th Ave at 11am tomorrow morning. Please be on time & let us know if you are going to be late or going directly to the field. Games kick off at 1pm & 2.30pm

Scribes Hosting NZ families.

As you may have heard, some members from the Scribes are hosting some NZ families of athletes of the Olympics. Jeff Hampton of TV3 from NZ is doing a story on the Scribes and our connection to NZ.  Jeff and his camera crew filmed a few minutes of a Scribes game last Saturday and his going to have the film crew our again this Saturday to interview some of the Scribes as some of the Kiwi’s want to present the Scribes with a jersey. They will also be shooting more footage of the Scribes in action. Come out and support our Scribes as the 2^nd division start at 1:00 pm and our 1^st team plays at 2:30 pm.

Canada v’s USA Ice Hockey, Sunday

Canada take on the USA in what is to be the game of the year. Scribes are going to open their clubhouse to show the event. 4 TV’s showing the game, and no inflated bar prices. Puck drops at 4.40pm. All welcome and enjoy the game amongst friends.

East Side Gents.

EastSide Gentlemen season starts Sunday 7 March at Brockton against the Evergreens, 1pm kick-off.

The second half of the season got underway on Jan 30th against Surrey. Unfortunately both Scribes lost out in what were two tough games.

1st Div: Surrey 26 – Scribes 14

2nd Div: Surrey 15 – Scribes 5

Next up is Seattle, Sat. Feb 6th 1pm and 2.30pm start times **Venue changed to Rupert Park.

Clubhouse: Upstairs in the Legion
We have hired the upstairs part of the legion (above smoking room) for the next number of months until the clubhouse is ready.

Scribes Super Bowl Party will be hosted there (upstairs part of the legion) on Sunday February 7 2010. Come along for some NFL action.

The new season starts on January 30th, so get out to training on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Here is the provisional schedule:

Believe it or not, our home field at Trout Lake is open this weekend. We are playing Surrey tomorrow at home as the make up game from Nov. 7^th. As per usual kick off for  the seconds is at 1pm and the firsts at 2.30pm. We would like to have all players at the field by 12pm, as there is a lot of sticks and debris on the field that needs to be cleared off before we can play.

The field needs to be lined and marked for play tomorrow, work on this will start at about 11.15am, if you have time to help out it will be much appreciated.

After the game we will host at the Legion on Commercial & 6^th.

Please come out and support your club, in what will probably be that last game this season.

If you have the BCRugby win win tickets, give them to Todd at the game tomorrow. The draw is happening next week. Bring back any unsold tickets too.

There will be a game this weekend (Sat. December 5th) for both divisions against Surrey.  The turnout to training last night was very poor (12 guys 3 of which were new). It has been a while since we last played but we need everyone out Wednesday night.  If our field is closed this weekend we will be playing in Surrey and there field has been open for all of November and will be open Saturday.  So get out and have a good session on Wednesday, knock off the rust and get ready to wrap up the first half with a big effort in both divisions. Games will be at the usual times of 1pm & 2.30pm.

See you at training on Wednesday at 6.30pm on the all weather field at Trout Lake.

If anyone is interested–there is a Movember Function this Saturday night at Moose’s Down Under…

Howdy Mo bros and Mo sistas,
Just a reminder that the final function and judging for Movember is on this saturday at mooses down under, admission is $10 for registered mo growers and $15 for everyone else, this includes a buffet dinner.
Judging for the mos will be happining on the night and all growers are encouraged to dress to match their mos and this will be taken into account by the judges, mos sistas are also encouraged to dress in theme with their man and a prize will be awarded for the best dressed couple. We have a few special guests lined up and will be running a couple of raffles on the night, some great prizes have been donated including a new snowboard, snow passes, various gift vouchers and loads of other prizes, so come along and bring as many friends as possible to help raise money for movember and make it a great night.

The games against SFU (Sat. 21st Nov) have been called off.

We tried to get another venue, but everything fell through. We will try to get this game rescheduled as soon as possible.

But, on the up side, the Scribes Annual PUB CRAWL is happening tomorrow. The plan is to meet up at St. Augustine’s on Commercial Drive (formerly the End Cafe) at 1pm for a lunch time beverage and then go from there. We will be gone by 2pm.
As with all pub crawls there are some rules, besides drinking.
* Dress code – Hawaiian Shirt
* You may be nominated to do a Joke, a Story or a Song. After your turn, then you nominate.
* Be on time to the first pub
Please let anyone else that is interested in going on the Public House Stroll know about it. The more the merrier.

Both 1st and 2nd div Scribes teams lost out in Langley last weekend in sub-zero like temperatures.

(1 div) Scribes  12 Langley 32

(2 div) Scribes  3  Langley 24 — Young Grant Campbell got the only points for the Scribes in this game.

Langley had two good teams which sit in second place in both league tables behind Abbotsford. Both Scribes teams played well and showed some positive phases of play.

The first div Scribes team wore the new jersies, sponsored by Premio Productions. The second div Scribes got to wear the hand-me-down strip.

Next up is SFU at home on Sat. 21st Nov. Games are scheduled for 1pm and 2.30pm kickoffs. Please keep an eye on your emails as games will be weather permittent.
